Jam & Banana on Toast

My all time favorite breakfast, the healthy mix of 100% whole wheat bread & banana plus the sweet taste of the jam & banana, makes a wonderful start to the morning, and a cold glass milk to wash it all down at the end.

Red Bean Crêpe

The red bean paste is wrapped in a thin blanket of crisp-fried crepes, not only are they delicious, but also everyone's favorite, last to be on the table, but gone in seconds.

Sheng Jian Bao (Pan Fried Pork Bun)

This time, the name suggests exactly what it is, it's a bun, it's small, and very juicy inside, it's pan fried so you'll get a crispy bottom, but moist on top, same as the Xiao Long Bao (Little Dragon Bun), it's a must to have both as a snack or part of a lunch.

For this image to work, I had to waste the juice from within

Chen's Wonton House

6610 No. 3 Rd,
Richmond, BC V6Y2C2.

Neat little place for Shanghai foods, not many tables, but good food, definitely fresh dumplings, as they wrap it after you ordered, quantity might not be huge, but definitely better quality.

Xiao Long Bao (Little Dragon Bun)

Although the name suggests it as a bun, a bread type of food, but it's more like a dumpling, usually steamed in bamboo containers, these little deluxe treats are a perfect starter for a meal, as you can see, the dish came out from steaming right onto the table.

You should also take notes that they produce juice inside after steamed, so when eating, don't just eat half, try having the whole thing in your mouth if you can, or the juice will escape and it won't taste as good, since the juice is the best part.

It is very important in setting up these little buns so they turn out perfect, other wise, the juice inside the bun will spill which spoils the whole enjoyment of devouring it and it looks like this place achieved it.
  1. to avoid the bun from sticking to the container, a layer of material is needed, alot of places uses sliced carrot, or lettuce, but it just ruins the taste if it was sticking to the bun, this place, they used wax paper, and it didn't stick at all, not one ruined bun
  2. space the bun so when they expand, the buns won't become attached twins

Yee Mein

When someone's birthday rolls around, it is customary for to have noodles during dinner, and everyone must have some, no exception.

Steamed Fish w/ Soy Sauce

Before

After

Appetizer

This is a mixed plate of appetizer normally eaten during dinner, typically it comes with a full course meal fit for 8-12 people.

There are different variations depending on which restaurant, with this late, it comes with spicy fried shrimp, beef, pork, jellyfish, and honey garlic ribs. Also depending on what is being served, it can be a cold or hot plate, this of course is a hot plate.

Mango Cake

The cake itself is great, moist, not dry at all, the layer of the mango on top is so photogenic, just too bad right now it's not mango season, so it's more sour then sweet.

Fondant Au Chocolate

Delicious little devils, one that is so good yet so bad for you, I'd say it's more like a cupcake sized brownie, so rich in flavor it's just unbelievably good.

Unfortunately, it was in the fridge for a day, so the lava like chocolate sauce inside have turned into a creamy solid state, none the less, still tastes good.

For those of you who are interested, the following nutritional fact was pulled from their website.

Bread Wrapped Ice Cream

Yum Yum!!!! So being in Singapore for more then 2 weeks, the heat just kills you, luckily, you can get ice cream everywhere. You have a choice of bread, crackers, wax paper, or a cup to enjoy your cold treat. and it was cheap. $1or2, a nice cheap dessert, just be sure you have your own supply of tissues, could get messy.

Not sure if they have an organization or a society, but you can see them everywhere, the ice cream does not come in a bucket, but in blocks, so no need to waste time scooping it, the block wrapped by the bread is only 1/5 of a whole block, they grab a huge chopping knife to cut.

Fried Chicken w/ Coconut Rice

In Singapore, my GF told me the chicken rice here is the best of the best, no other chicken can beat this place, and it's extremely cheap!!! for more the 2 weeks that I stayed in Chinatown, I've had this as breakfast for more then 7 days, just can't get enough of it.

This dish comes with deep fried chicken wing, fried egg, a slice of cucumber, and coconut rice, plus an added taste with the semi spicy sauce, it's just delicious.

Hot Taro Paste

Nice little dish if you love taro, this yummy dessert is best served hot, and eaten hot, it's thick as a nice bowl of porridge, tastes sweet, and with the lotus seed, this is the best dish to end the meal.

Dry Noodles w/ Meat Mixture

If you're a meat lover, you've got to try this, the amount of meat on there seems of equal proportion with the noodles, there's also a bowl of soup on the side.

Noodles in Beef Stew

This is definitely one of the best beef stew I've had, and I eat this many many times whenever I get the chance to. The soup is not overly oily, the beef brisket is moist and not chewy, as an added bonus, there's beef tendons, but as always, it's the rich flavor of the soup that makes this bowl my no.1 choice.

Phnom Penh Restaurant

244 Georgia Street V6A 1Z7
Vancouver BC Canada

It's like a hidden gem, the location is not the most appealing, but the food is good, as an added bonus, there is a parking lot across the street around there that is cheap.

Bing Sheng Restaurant

1800 Renfrew Street V5M 3H9
Vancouver BC Canada

Amazing little place, always packed for a few hours during lunch and dinner, and more waiters and waitresses then expected.

Tons of mix and match within the place, like there were 3 different sets of bowls, cups and tea pots, as well as different chairs.

I must admit, it's a comfortable place to be in, and I recommend going to try it once.

Triple Pudding Dish

The gold fish in the center, made of mango pudding, looks too good to eat, surrounded by multi-layered pudding consist of red bean and jello pudding, which would have been sweeter if more longan was added.

This is the only way to enjoy a mango pudding, with condensed milk, it's like an explosion of flavor in your mouth.

Tripple King Crab Feast

I was excited to hear about having king crab, but when the dish was presented, it didn't seem a huge difference compared to a normal crab.

First dish was steamed legs with garlic sprinkled on top, the garlic sauce was great, too bad it's not as packed as it should be, and wierdly, the first dish came with the shell, with nothing in it but steamed garlic sauce.

Second dish was deep fried with jalapeno, and I love it, because anything spicy is always good.

Third dish, the red strips on top of the noodles are actually crab meat stripped out from the shell, the taste was quite blend and lucky for me, there was XO sauce to help witht he flavor. I felt this last dish was totally wasted, what should have happened is that they should use the shell of the crab and steam fried rice in it so the rice would absorb more flavor.

Spare Ribs Hot Pot

This delicious dish can not be eaten alone, the thick tasty black vinegar sauces alone makes you want another bowl of rice. Personally, I like the meat with the bone.
The dish is boiling hot even after the dish hits the table, until the flames die down.

Lettuce Wrap

Part 2 of the 2 part dish, the chopped duck meat with a various other chopped foods are pan fried, then wrapped in clean crisp lettuce.

Duck Skin Wrap

This is actually part 1 of 2 separate wrap dishes from one roasted duck.
The duck skin is sliced, the wrap is lightly heated, and with a combination of oyster sauce, green onion and cucumber, it makes one delicious wrap.
